Complex, high-value tech solutions into food, meat and process manufacturing environments
Hybrid or office based - possible remote with monthly travel to Melbourne office
Company
Our client is a global, privately owned ERP and operational software vendor with deep specialisation across food, meat and process manufacturing.
This is not generic SaaS or a broad-brush business software sale. The platform connects the factory floor, warehouse, production line, inventory, quality, traceability, labelling, scanners, scales, automation, robotics, BI and real-time operational reporting into one business-critical operating environment.
Globally, the company has been established for decades, with hundreds of employees, more than 1,200 installations and customers across 50 countries. In Australia, they've built a credible local operation, with an established Melbourne-based office, local implementation capability, a growing list of household-name customers and a strong footprint across many operational sites.
This is a newly created position. The Australian business is now entering its next stage of growth. To date, the local CEO has personally carried much of the sales function. With increasing demand, stronger market awareness and a growing local pipeline, the business is now ready to appoint a senior sales professional to take ownership of new-business growth across ANZ.
Role
This is a newly created Senior Business Development Manager role focused on driving new-logo growth across Australia and New Zealand, with some existing-client growth opportunities.
The position can be based in Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane. The business operates from a Melbourne regional head office, and the successful candidate will be expected to travel there periodically if interstate. There will also be travel across Australia for customer meetings, site visits and industry events, along with potential international travel for training, sales meetings and engagement with global HQ.
You will be responsible for building pipeline, creating qualified opportunities, engaging senior decision-makers and closing complex enterprise software deals into operationally intensive environments.
Typical opportunities involve multi-stakeholder sales cycles, operational discovery, business-case development and close collaboration with local implementation teams, technical experts and global colleagues.
You will engage with CEOs, owners, CFOs, COOs, Heads of IT, operations leaders, production managers, supply-chain teams, warehouse leaders, quality stakeholders and automation specialists. Deal values are typically in the $200K-$500K+ range, with larger multi-site opportunities ranging up to $2 million.
This is a role for someone who enjoys understanding how physical businesses actually run. You will need to be comfortable walking factory floors, visiting production sites and discussing real operational challenges around inventory, traceability, labour efficiency, production planning, compliance, reporting, downtime and margin pressure.
You
The ideal candidate is a proven senior business developer with experience selling complex operational software or technology into manufacturing, supply chain, logistics, warehousing, food production, industrial or automation-heavy environments.
You may come from an ERP, SCM, MES, WMS, manufacturing software, warehouse automation, logistics technology, traceability, compliance, industrial software, robotics or adjacent enterprise technology background.
You do not need to have sold this exact solution before, but you must understand the difference between selling generic software and selling business-critical operational platforms that sit close to production, supply chain and factory-floor processes.
The successful candidate will be commercially mature, curious, process-driven and internally collaborative. This is a small but globally connected business, so the ability to build trust with the local CEO, implementation consultants, project teams, support staff and international colleagues will be important.
You will also need to be comfortable spending time on customer sites, including food and meat-processing environments, where understanding the realities of production is essential to selling effectively.
Benefits
The opportunity itself on this occasion cannot be overstated. You will take an established global specialist vendor and lead the next phase of its ANZ growth.
Reporting directly to the regional CEO, you will have strong local customer proof points, a differentiated product suite and the freedom to build meaningful market presence across a still under-penetrated segment.
The role offers a compelling earning profile, including circa $150k base + super, with a realistic Year 1 OTE of circa $250k and a Year 2 OTE of $300k+ with uncapped commission. The longer-term earnings pathway is strong as the local business continues to scale.
